How to laser engrave leather material

If you’re working with leather the BRM laser is the engraving machine that is perfect for you! Leather is being used to fabricate various products. It’s often engraved with figures or letters using laser technology. Our lasers enable the engraving and cutting of leather without decreasing the quality of the end product.

A laser machine is the only machine that has a contactless processing method. The laser hovers above the leather and creates the engraving from there. There is no pressure exerted on the material and it doesn’t need to be fixed to the work surface during the engraving process. Even though leather is a tough material to process, it is sensitive to damage. Laser technology eliminates the risk of damage during cutting or engraving that you would have when using a knife or any other tool.

Laser Engraving on Leather

Leather is a tough material, making it difficult to engrave or cut with knives or other tools. However, with a BRM laser machine, this becomes a breeze. The laser engraves using a completely contactless process, so even though leather is tough, it can be precisely and beautifully engraved without any risk of damage.

Despite its durability, leather can be sensitive to damage. With a BRM laser machine, this isn't a problem. Since the engraving process does not apply any pressure to the material, the leather doesn't need to be clamped or secured during the process. This eliminates the risk of any accidental damage during engraving.

Many possibilities with Leather

So many things can be made using CO2 laser machines, labels for the clothing industry, personalized wallets, belts, amazing prints for shoes and way more things. Countless examples are made by our clients and many companies around the globe.

Leather

When we speak of leather, we distinguish natural leather and artificial leather. Natural leathers are made from skins of many animals, but mainly cattle. Within these two groups of leather, there are several kinds of material. It’s very helpful to first establish which exact material you will be processing. BRM laser machines can engrave, but also cut all different kinds of leather. Each with their required settings and adjustments.

When leather is being processed a layer of residual material may stay behind after engraving or cutting, to remove this layer the distinction must be made between natural or artificial leather. Natural leather can’t always be cleaned using just any cleaning product. It’s best to test this on an excess piece of the material. Artificial leather can be cleaned with a damp sponge without affecting the material.

Leather laser machine

The best machine to process leather is our BRM CO2-laser. Each type of leather reacts differently to the impact of the laser beam, so there are hardly any regular guidelines for laser cutting or engraving leather with a laser machine, but the settings can be adjusted to achieve the best results and meet your specific needs! No design is too complex for a BRM laser machine.
